Nigerian students have appealed to the incoming administration of Bola Tinubu to address the problem of unemployment by making jobs available for graduates.
Speaking to The Guardian on their expectations from Tinubu’s administration, Emmanuella Grace, a Higher National Diploma (HND) 2 student of Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), urged the president-elect to provide the needed infrastructure and make jobs available for graduates.
She also pleaded with him to upgrade NYSC camps across the country to improve the lives of youth corps members.
A national diploma 2 student of the same college, Juliet, believes Nigeria has enough resources to fast-track development and tasked the incoming government to look into it. She lamented that successive governments have failed to make good use of the resources.
According to her, students preparing for JAMB exam are wasting their time because Nigeria under Tinubu’s government might not improve the education sector and tackle incessant ASUU strikes. Samuel, a student in the department of Fashion Designing, called for better welfare package for lecturers, improved learning and conducive environment for students.
He also urged Tinubu’s administration to make effort to end incessant strikes in the sector.
Dare, a final year student of Computer Engineering Department, lamented that most tertiary institutions in the country lack the required tools and infrastructural facilities that can make them compete globally.
