The financial misconduct and infractions, which was initially leveled against Oyedeji in March, 2922, it was alleged led to loss of funds from the institution.
DAILY POST following fresh documents obtained on the matter has authoritatively gathered that the House after conclusive investigations ruled that the Bursar, Oyedeji should be exonerated from the allegations of financial misconduct and other infractions.
In a letter dated September 6, 2022, signed by S. A. Amusan, Clerk of the Osun State House and copied to the Provost of the College also stated that Oyedeji have been exonerated from the various allegations leveled against him as contained in the report of the periodic check.
“The State of Osun at its executive session has critically examined the report of the House Committee 9n Public Accounts on the matter vis-a-vis other available documents, records and testimonies. Having discovered that a series of issues raised against you by the Office of the Auditor General appears bogus and unsubstantiated, the House came to a conclusion that you should be exonerated from the allegations of financial misconduct and other infractions.
“I, therefore, write on the instructions of the Honourable Speaker, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye to inform you that you have been exonerated from the various allegations leveled against you as contained in the report of the periodic check.”
Also, in another document sighted by DAILY POST, and signed by Dr George Olayinka Owolabi, Chairman, Governing Council of Osun State College of Education, Ila-Orangun and dated June 3, 2022, Oyedeji was officially exonerated of any allegations of financial misconduct.
Owolabi also regretted the damage and embarrassment the report of the Osun State Auditor General may have caused the erstwhile embattled Bursar.
DAILY POST recalls that in March, 2022, the Osun State Auditor General, Folorunso Adesina issued Oyedeji with a 21 day ultimatum to return alleged missing funds into the College coffers or face the full weight of the law.
Adesina had in a signed letter dated March 14, 2022, and addressed to the institution’s Provost, had alleged that the missing funds, which is to the tune of four hundred and twelve million, three hundred and fifty nine thousand, nine hundred and two Naira, ninety seven Kobo, were proceeds of financial misconduct and infractions.
The Osun Auditor General back in 2022 also advised the College Bursar to produce some concealed documents before the last date of the ultimatum, alleging that he had gone ahead to dispose of the documents that would have revealed more missing funds.
Reacting to the allegations, Oyedeji had maintained that he would not comment on the matter.
“The matter was before the Osun State House of Assembly and that a final report had not been made by the legislators.
“As a result of that, I will not be able to make any comment until when the final report of the House of Assembly is out. That is my position.”
