The Nasarawa State University in Keffi is set to expand the frontiers of medical and allied sciences with the introduction of Health Information Science in the 2023 Academic Session.
This was revealed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, during a meeting with the leadership of the Association of Nigeria Community Health Workers and their Health Information Management counterpart.
Professor Suleiman explained that the introduction of Health Information Science will complement the three earlier approved programs in community health. The Vice-Chancellor noted that this addition will further add value to the upcoming College of Medical and Health Sciences.
During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor also informed the delegation that the Center for Excellence in Cold Chain Management plans to train technicians that will produce and market medical equipment. This equipment will be produced from the centre. He further directed the visiting delegation to take a tour of the facilities in the University in preparation for the commencement of the programs and come up with a proposal and time frame for the takeoff of the programs.
The chairman Board of Community Health Workers Mr Sule Toma Galadima, and the secretary Mallam Bashir Idris thanked the Vice-Chancellor for the audience and opportunity. They also assured him that they will work within the stipulated time frame so that the University can achieve its target.
